5 Makeup Products I’ve Been Loving for Summer

Summer is in the air, and that means it’s time for light and glowy makeup. I am just starting to get back into doing my makeup after so much time stuck at home. This summer is going to filled with beautiful weather and lots of excursions outdoors, so I found some easy and effective products to keep us glowing all summer long!

Best for Glowy, Even Skin

I’ve mentioned this product before on my blog because I love it! The BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream is light and non-greasy feeling on my skin while providing a natural glow. It also has SPF 30! My pale redheaded self can never get enough sun protection.

In this photo, you can tell it’s definitely not full coverage, but it’s buildable! I personally prefer a lighter coverage to let my natural rosy cheeks and freckles show through. I just love the glow it gives me.

The Sky-High Lashes Trick

Personally, I think the key to getting extra long lashes with mascara is all in the technique. But an easy way to add some length is using a lash primer before you use your mascara! I used one coat of the Essence Volume Booster Lash Primer on each eye, let it dry for maybe 30 seconds, and then apply my mascara as normal. I do always curl my lashes prior to applying any product, and I think the curl also helps cheat the length of my lashes to look even longer.

Now to Get Those Long Lashes…

My favorite mascara for lengthening is a classic. The L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara is awesome for crafting long lashes. The thin brush is ideal for getting close to the root of the lash and lifting it, and you can use the brush vertically to really “top off” your lashes for extra length.

The $3 Brow Pencil That Rocks

I’m all about affordable beauty, and Essence is a top contender in that category! Their products don’t skimp on quality, either. Like all brands, there are some hits and misses, but for the most part, their prices and quality is hard to beat.

The Essence Eyebrow Designer Pencil is a go-to for me when I need a brow pencil and don’t want to experiment with other brands. It’s easy to find – at Target, Walmart, and drugstores – and did I mention, extremely cost-conscious? I use the 04 Blonde shade, and I like to use the pencil to simply fill in and shape my brows.

Social Media’s Brow Gel Darling

I bought the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze after seeing it hyped on Instagram. I will say, it lives up to that hype! I like a slightly feathered, full brow look, but this brow product is versatile enough to create any brow style. All you need is a spoolie, and you don’t need a lot of product at all.

It’s revolutionary in that it has great hold without being clumpy or flakey. I used to use Got2B spiking gel on my brows, and wow does it hold! Throughout the day, my brows would just feel uncomfortable, like they’d been glued down (although I made sure to use a very small amount of gel). It would also flake off throughout wear time, which is just not a favorable look. The Brow Freeze is truly awesome in that it offers all-day hold without the downsides.

If you happen to give any of these products a try, please let me know in the comments or on social media how you liked them! I think they’re perfect for all year round, but a simple, light makeup arsenal is mandatory in the heat and humidity. I’m going to be posting an updated summer haircare and styling routine soon, so keep an eye out if you’re interested in that, and you can also find me on Instagram and TikTok. Chat soon!
