Sephora VIB Sale 2022 Purchases

Hi there, my lovely readers!

Today, I’m going to be sharing the the beauty products I purchased in the 2022 Sephora Beauty Insider sale. Typically I get to shop the sale at their VIB rewards tier for the 15% discount, but this year I really didn’t buy many beauty products, just because the quarantine era has quite changed my beauty habits. For instance, I’m not doing a full face of makeup or a detailed eyeshadow look with five different shades for work every day. I’m not meticulously lining my lips and wearing a matte liquid lipstick – it’s Burt’s Bees for me nowadays! It’s just not the same. This year, I mainly got skincare, but I did replace a couple of my beauty staples. My routine is a lot more streamlined and simplified now. I have my holy grails and I only stray from them if it’s a product that I really want to try, so there are a few items that I got that I’m super interested to showcase and test out to see if they are worth the regular price.

Now, I know 10% is small potatoes when it comes to discounts, but if you were looking at a higher ticket item such as the Dyson Air Wrap or a high-end fragrance, I think it would be a good time to purchase because you’re getting that discount that you don’t normally on a luxury product.

*Of course, do your research and shop around. Oftentimes you can find higher-end items like the Dyson, T3, or Drybar hair tools cheaper on resale sites like eBay or Poshmark. I would also encourage checking out Facebook Marketplace. Alas, that is neither here nor there, so let me tell you what I got from the Sephora sale!

Also, this year in addition to the 10% off all items, there is a 30% discount off of the Sephora Collection products, so I definitely grabbed a few of those. Without further ado, let me just dive into what I got and my first impressions. In a month or two’s time, I will definitely revisit these items and let y’all know where I stand with the products.

My Profile

If you haven’t seen a picture of me, here is one below.

I have very fair skin and long, thick, wavy red hair. I also have blue eyes. My skin is pretty dry, but I can still get a bit of oiliness on my T-zone. Overall, it’s mostly dry and kind of sensitive, so usually I stick to gentle products that don’t irritate or dry out my face. I’ve been trying to stay within one brand. I just find that a lot of the time, if one brand’s product works for me, it’s most likely that their other products are going to also work for me because the formulation seems to be similar within a brand, or at least in the specific collection or product line. Of course, that’s not to say every product will work from the same brand, so we have a little bit of brand variety.

I will make sure to specify items that are repurchases and what are totally new item to me. I recently did a Glow Recipe haul just because I was in the market for a replacement cleanser and I love their Blueberry Bounce for a gentle but effective wash. I’ll link that here if you want to see my thoughts on that!

Skincare

OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright+ Vitamin C Eye Crème

You’ve probably heard the hype around this eye cream before. I am currently using the Verso Super Eye Serum with Retinol 8, and I do quite like it. I think it’s just the right texture and I love the packaging. It’s very sanitary and convenient to dispense the right amount of product – it’s a squeeze tube with a very thin tip. The only thing is, I had it on hand for a while and was too lazy to incorporate it initially, so I think it’s expired at this point. Regardless, I wanted a slightly heavier eye cream for the drier months coming up. I just realized that the cream features vitamin C – not sure how I missed that – so I’ll have to adjust for that in my routine a little bit. I find that if I overdo it on the vitamin C products, my skin gets dry, bumpy patches. I’ll try this eye cream out for the next month and report back!

SEPHORA COLLECTION Triple Action Cleansing Water – Cleanse + Purify

I currently use the TONYMOLY The Chok Chok Green Tea Cleansing Water basically as a micellar water. It’s marketed as a cleansing water, which this Sephora Collection product also is! I got the value size because I always keep cleansing water on hand, mostly for nights when I just want to get my makeup off and quickly cleanse my face. This cleansing water had solid reviews (4 stars from 126 reviewers) and with the additional 30% off, I decided to give it a whirl. It touts ingredients like zinc for purification and aloe vera for soothing.

Makeup

Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

I have wanted to try Selena’s makeup brand for a while, but just never pulled the trigger on it. I recently watched Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, a documentary on Apple TV+ which sheds light on her experience with her mental health, and I’m a renewed fangirl. I have a similar diagnosis to Selena, and seeing her use her platform to work to destigmatize mental illness and provide resources for those struggling fills me with such joy. I decided to support our girl by finally trying Rare Beauty! I chose the cutely packaged liquid blush in the shade Happy, a cool-toned pink. I don’t often use blush due to my rosacea but I want to try it out more often, and this formulation is great for on-the-go, which is what I’m all about. I most often do my makeup in the passenger seat these days anyway!

Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Eye Essentials Duo

I also opted for this value set consisting of the Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara and the Perfect Strokes Matte Liquid Liner, both in black. I’ve been recommended the liquid liner in the past, and I’m always down to test out a new mascara!

SEPHORA COLLECTION Astrology Lip Stories Lipstick

I’m a big fan of the Sephora Lip Stories lipstick line! I already have the shades Oui! (satin nude baby pink – such a great “my lips, but better” shade for me), Yum Yum (satin red brown), and Undisturbed (intense matte brown). I’ve been learning more about astrology lately, so it only makes sense that I chose from their Astrology collection – only partly kidding. I chose the Leo shade, a matte raspberry color. I like a pop of color on the lips once in a while, and I think this bright berry will be perfect. It was also already marked down, so the 30% came off on top of that!

SEPHORA COLLECTION Beauty Amplifier Clear Universal Waterproof Lip Liner

If you see a difference when you use lip liner, but you don’t want to buy a ton of different shades, I highly recommend picking up this product! I have used the Makeup Forever Lip Line Perfector, but it doesn’t look like it’s sold at Sephora anymore, and this Sephora Collection version is half the price. It’s basically a clear lip liner that keeps your lipstick from feathering or bleeding.

Haircare

COLOR WOW Xtra Large Bombshell Volumizer

I heard of this product on TikTok where it was described as a volumizing mousse, but not sticky or crunchy like many traditional mousses. My hair generally has a lot of body due to its wavy nature, so I usually don’t have a huge issue getting volume. Sometimes when my hair is a couple days out from a wash, I’ve worn it in a bun for a while, or slept on it, my roots fall flat. Also because I have a lot of hair, it’s easy for it to weigh itself down. I thought about trying this to add some volume at my roots, and I’ve heard good things about this brand, so I will definitely report back how it works for me.

COLOR WOW Pop + Lock Frizz Control + Glossing Serum

This product was kind of an impulse buy. While I was browsing the Color Wow brand, I was intrigued by this glossing serum because frizz is often an issue I deal with. It is November, so now that it’s not as hot and humid anymore, I’m not super worried about frizziness, but especially on days when I wash my hair in the morning versus at night, the frizz can be inevitable. I thought this would be interesting to see if it really does lock in that glossiness and avoid any frizz or dullness.

Sephora Favorites Ultimate Holiday Hair Hydration Set

I love Sephora Favorites mini sets like this! I’m also on a hair care journey, trying out different brands and seeing what works for me, so this was the perfect time for this purchase. I definitely have some products that I’ll never stop using, like the Moroccanoil has always been so good to my hair, but I’m ready to branch out with styling products. You’ve probably seen the Gisou hair oil on TikTok and Instagram. I’m pumped to try Amika’s The Kure Bond Repair Mask, since I’ve seen people get great results with that particular line. Obviously I’m excited to test out the Moroccanoil shampoo and conditioner because I already love and use that brand. I haven’t used many Briogeo hair care products just because it’s a little pricey for me, but we’ll see how the hair mask does on my thick hair. Of course, I love Ouai, but same thing, it’s a little spendy to purchase regularly. I use the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer as a heat protectant often when I use heat on my hair, so I thought this was overall a solid buy; there’s some products included that I already like, and there’s some that I’ve been meaning to try. It was only $39 plus the 10%, which I felt was an amazing value!

Those were all the products I picked up from Sephora for their sale. I am now $3 away from the VIB tier, so next year I’ll get 15% off! I’m just waiting for my packages to arrive and will take you guys along the journey as I try them out. As you may know, Sephora is not is the cheapest retailer, so we will see what’s worth it, what’s not, what works, and what doesn’t. I would also love, love, love to know in the comments or even on social media if you have tried any of these products and were they a hit or miss? What else did you pick up from the Sephora sale, if you shopped it this year? I’m always interested to hear because Sephora has such a wide variety of brands and I love to know what others’ holy grails are.

Let’s talk beauty! You can find me on Instagram, and mostly TikTok, and here of course. See you in my next post! Remember to be kind to yourself and celebrate your beauty every day.
